In November 2024, the Northern Township Board accepted a feasibility report for the Northern Township
Wastewater System Project and held a public hearing on December 9th. Following these steps, the project
was officially ordered on December 23, 2024.
This project order is only for Phase 1 (shaded green) of the outlined work, including the mechanical treatment plan (purple/orange) as seen in the picture below:
This marks an important milestone as we move forward with planning, financing, and preparing for construction. There will be much more information shared with residents over the next year. Residents connecting to the system will likely see a questionnaire and contact from our engineer group to identify any needed property specific details, such as preferred connection points.

This project is the realization of a multi-generational goal of installing a municipal sanitary sewer system around the north end of Lake Bemidji, helping to preserve and protect water quality for generations to come.
